Palm oil can be produced sustainably. Choosing sustainable palm oil in Europe will help protect rainforests, safeguard their vulnerable biodiversity, and create fair socio-economic conditions. Problems and issues related to palm oil are widely addressed and some stakeholders publicly call for a ban on palm oil. But banning palm oil does not solve the problems. And the remaining palm oil may be sold to markets with less strict sustainability criteria. Time is running out to protect our rainforest and its vulnerable biodiversity. We will use all our power to convince companies and organisations to choose sustainable palm oil now.
